Whether you’ve always wanted to become a pilot, fly with your family, friends or want a career in aviation, the first step in everyone’s aviation journey begins with earning their private pilots license.
A Private Pilots License allows you to fly day or night with passengers, in visual conditions (VFR).
There are over 19,700 airports in the United States, with approximately 5193 designed as public use. This includes both commercial service airports and general aviation airports. The remaining airports are for private use, meaning they require prior approval for use.
Earning a private pilot license means that you can fly when you want and wont have to deal with your local busy airport and TSA/airlines. Giving you the convenience of when you need to get there quickly.
The FAA establishes the criteria to obtain a private pilot license. Those requirements are explained in CFR-561.102-120. The minimum requirements are listed below from the FAA:
The national Average for students to complete their private pilot training is around 60-70 hours of total flight time.
There is no minimum age for flying lessons and these ages apply to both solo flights and eligibility.
- Age 17 years old, (16 to fly solo)
- Total flight time: 40 hours
- Instruction flight time: 20 Hours
- Solo flight times: 10 hours
- Third Class FAA Medial Certificate
- FAA Written Test
- FAA Practical Test (Check-Ride)
- Speak and Write English Fluently
