Commercial Pilot License

The FAA has very stringent rules on what defines receiving compensation. Someone else paying for fuel or exceeding their pro-rata portion of flight expenses could easily cost you to violate what is allowed with private pilot privileges.

As a commercial pilot, you will demonstrate to the FAA that you exhibit a mastery of aircraft handling and thereby have new privileges afforded to you to receive payment or compensation.

The criteria to be eligible for a commercial pilot certificate. The FAA details them in CFR-61.129.

Requirements:
  • Private Pilot License and Instrument Rating Certificate.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a total of 250 hours, total time.
  • Pilot in command time> 100 hours
  • Simulated/Actual Instrument Flight Time: 10 hours
  • Technologically Advanced Aircraft Time (TAA): 10 Hours
  • FAA Written Test
  • FAA Practical Test (Check-Ride)
